For most of us, getting started or motivating ourselves to start is a big problem as taking the time out to exercise itself. We know that exercise is healthy and there are many benefits associated with it but taking the first step is most important. We share a few tips to help you get started.
Exercise shouldn’t be looked upon as a compulsion but as something fun. Hence, choose something,
which you like and suits you physically. If you don’t like going to the gym opt for an outdoor workout or try other forms of physical activity such as boxing, pilates etc.
Get a friend or a partner to exercise along with you. This way you will have company and both of you can enjoy the benefits of a healthy heart.
Don’t stick to the same routine, vary your workouts. Change your aerobic activities from time to time and alternate your weight training by working out on different muscle groups on different days.
Choose that time of the day, which is comfortable to you.
Set a goal for yourself and if you don’t see instant results don’t get discouraged. It will take a while for the results to show but remember that this is a long-term activity.
The first day of work out often leaves the muscles sore. Don’t be hampered by that as a little soreness is normal. Having said that though a little soreness is normal but extreme pain isn’t. If that is the case, check with your doctor and physiotherapist before continuing that particular exercise.
So go get yourself a pair of workout shoes and hit the gym or play the sport you love the most. After all, it’s your health we are talking about. A healthy body equals to a healthy life.
